This fascinating collection was brought together and funded by IBM in 1926 for the improvement and broadening of the cultural histories of the arts. The book presents a panorama of the West through the eyes of the artist, spanning a vast array that includes paintings, watercolors, prints, sculpture, ceramics, textiles, handicrafts, costumes, books, documents, records on film and disc, not only of interest to the artist but also the historian and the scientist, which fall naturally into that broad and all-inclusive category of culture-history in which all arts and activities of men are interrelated.
